Mackay Guide is an independent guide to the Mackay region of Queensland — its coast and country, its industries, and what is on around the place.
Why it exists
Mackay is often passed through on the way somewhere else, which does it a disservice. It has one of Queensland’s best wildlife experiences, a beautiful and uncrowded coast, ancient rainforest an hour inland, and a genuine working character you don’t find in a resort town. This site is here to make the region easier to enjoy and to understand.
A note on the name
This website is an independent guide and is not affiliated with, or operated by, the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre. Where we write about the venue — a real and important part of the city’s life — we point you to its own official channels for programs and bookings.
How we work
- Independent and general. We describe the region in general terms and send you to official sources for anything that changes — dates, prices, programs and bookings.
- No ticket sales. We don’t sell tickets or take bookings; we point toward the official sellers.
- Accurate, or not at all. Where we don’t have a verified detail, we leave it out. If we’ve got something wrong, we fix it.
